Laser Correction
What exactly is corrective laser surgery?
In general, laser surgery refers to procedures where the cornea (the clear part of your eye that sits in front of your iris, the coloured part) is reshaped using a laser to minimize a patient’s glasses prescription. The cornea is made up of layers; it is the thick central layer that is modified during surgery. There are various ways of accessing this middle layer. In LASIK, the most popular procedure, a hinged flap is cut in the top part of the cornea and is lifted away. In PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy), the top layer of cells are scraped off and then grow back within 4 to 5 days.
